The biggest thing to look back upon as far as the internet in whole, is the fact that cybercrime, in it's many forms has skyrocketed. We have seen this evidenced over and again in many ways.
The two things I see, crime is adapting well to the 21st century. Compound that with the fact that geeks & hackers are now like the new "In Crowd" or maybe even folk heroes, and blammo! There you have it!
My advice to everyone, never put any info anywhere on the web which you do not want the world to see, avoid internet shopping in general. If you must, only deal with reputable sites with a guarantee, and the ability to pay directly via credit card, and the ability to speak directly to a real genuine human being in a timely manner should the need arise. Consider getting a rechargeable or virtual credit card for your online use. This, of course in addition to safe browsing and security practices
