Looking around lately it seems everyone agrees that ebaY is is serious trouble. No need to go over every little thing, but a couple-few quick points:
The stock share prices are way down, around 60% or so in one quick year. Traffic looks down according to Alexa. Down to #20 and further falling in some metrics.
Listings are way up, but when you look to see what those extra millions of listings really are, it sure looks like more 'padding" in that it is basically a bunch of CRAP that you can get locally for cheaper. Also it looks like darling Diamond level seller buy, possibly others are listing multiple quantities, then canceling the listings after only a couple units sold. Only to relist again. Too bad it appears that eb has blocked access by toolhaus, because you would see a lot of complaints from buyers stating that buy does not stock the items they list. (occaionally they become unblocked though)
ebay made all bidders and now even winner's ID anonymous, meaning that the entire site is nothing but a shill-bidding paradise.
News reports each and every day are clogged with stories of stolen goods, crime rings, fakes, counterfeits, ripoffs, hacked Paypal account scams, consumer complaints, you name it...
Let's not forget the still ongoing flood of hacked-hijacked accounts. This is clearly indicative of more than just "simple phishing"
ebay is Skid Row and slumlord of the internet. Simple as that.
Meanwhile, eb has canceled ebay live for 2009, rumours are that they will be holding "secret meetings" with the biggest sellers, complete with Non-Disclosure Agreements. Hilarious!
Again, Level playing Field? Transparency? lmao! eb has redesigned their "My ebay" page, and the shill infested "Community" Forum boards, both, by all accounts are poorly designed and executed, and have very serious usability issues. Neither were "broken" before the "fix"
Moving along, external observers are finally taking serious notice, some want to 'fix' ebay, comparing IT to the Professor character on the old Gilligan's Island TV show. lmao! Others want to see eb split up into smaller components.
Not sure what all the have since they show 100 subsidiaries, but Skype is a big loser IMO, they are riddled with security holes gone unrepaired and unanswered for quite some time now. Who wants to buy that?. I should add that people close to me have fallen victim to this garbage. Interesting that Skype does not have a phone number to contact them when problems arise, only the same canned email brush-off game that eb is famous for.
Skype was a loser from the git-go IMO. Who wants a phone in their computer when you can have a computer in your phone?
Of course I could go on & on & on with a million rants and a bazillion links...
In reality, eb is more like "Apocalypse Now", than Gilligan's Island. They are playing the character of Col Kurtz. Everyone knows what must be done, everyone wants it to be done, including the Colonel.
